Georgio Armani Buys Greek Island for $190M

Apart from being exceptionally successfully wealthy and successful, what do Bill Gates, Roman Abramovich and Madonna have in common?

The answer is, they were all bidders for the Greek Island of Skorpios, which is located in the Ionian Sea off the western coast of Greece, but were pipped at the post by fashion titan Georgio Armani.

While those that lost out are no doubt licking their wounds (for a few moments at least), Armani is now the proud owner (and $190 million USD out of pocket) of not just a stunning island, but one with some grand history.

Skorpios formerly belonged to Aristotle Onassis, the famed Greek shipping billionaire, and was the site of his wedding to Jackie Kennedy in 1968.

There is a idyllic villa on the island known as the Pink House, lovingly built by Aristotle Onassis for Jackie, along with tennis courts and plush gardens, though most of the island remains undeveloped and pristine. No doubt Armani will be adding his stylist touch.

Exclusivity does not get much better than this!
